And it seems like everyone who drives it absolutely loves what Subaru has done to the engine, chassis, and handling. They're even impressed by the CVT. The main two complaints (I don't count styling, since that's subjective and I happen to kind of like it, lol)?
1) Brake pedal could use more feel.
2) SUBARU! WHY U NO HATCHBACK!?
Seems like the Auto Journos are bigger Jalops than I though.

My wife dailies a 2013 Impreza with the cvt. It's somewhere between slow and painfully slow. The saving grace with that trans is that it has a manual mode that actually makes it not horrible to drive when going over mountain passes. It actaully uses it's 148hp very well. Now, if I were buying a WRX no way in hell would it be CVT but they could be worse. The cvt Nissan Rogue I had in Maui comes to mind

Have you read the reviews for the 2015 WRX CVT? In Normal and Sport modes, it's a yawn-fest, as expected, but in Sport# mode, it's apparently extremely crisp and responsive- completely different from any of Subaru's existing CVT's.

Please, please, please - everyone. EVERYONE who's planning to buy a new WRX in the next few years. Get the manual. Carmakers need a clear rebuke of CVTs in cars made primarily for enthusiasts. If 75% of all WRXs are sold with the manual, Subaru (and other makers) will see that buyers like us don't want that crap in our cars.

Subaru's already stated that they only expect the CVT to comprise about 15-20% of their WRX sales.

Well, that's good to hear. Hope it's 5.
